Meet the Founder & Teacher, Erica Ann
Everything I offer through Light in the Dark is rooted in both professional training and lived experience. I am a trauma survivor, trauma-informed yoga teacher, and somatic movement coach. When you book a class with me, you’re not only receiving education—you’re being guided by someone who understands the healing journey and the importance of restoring safety in the body.
My personal experiences with trauma deeply shaped how I understand resilience, nervous system regulation, and the body’s need for safety. I know firsthand how chronic stress and survival mode can disconnect us from ourselves, leaving the body stuck in patterns of tension, hypervigilance, or freeze.
While talk therapy can be incredibly valuable, healing often also requires working with the body. Through breath, movement, vagal nerve support, and co-regulation, we can begin to gently retrain the nervous system and reconnect with a sense of safety.
Somatic practices became a powerful part of my own healing journey, helping me restore regulation, reduce stress, and reconnect with my body in compassionate ways. Those practices continue to support me today and inspire the work I share with others.
Light in the Dark was born from both a passion for healing and a desire to make trauma-informed resources more accessible. With over 11 years of teaching yoga and witnessing the transformative power of somatic movement, I created this space for survivors of domestic abuse and complex trauma—a place where you can soften, be seen, and reconnect with your inner strength.
Here, you are held. Your voice matters. Your body is honored. Healing happens one breath at a time, one gentle movement at a time. If you feel called to book a class or have questions about my offerings, please reach out. If you are navigating domestic abuse and need resources, I’m happy to help guide you.
